The mounting end may have a base with a fitting designed for mounting on a pneumatic tire, inner tube, or tire rim, to permit and retain inflation or permit deflation. The mounting end may be internally threaded for adaptability to a valve spud or may be provided with cure-on or clamp in features. The other end is externally threaded to accommodate a valve cap, and internally threaded to accommodate the valve core.

VALVE EXTENSION,TIRE

A metal, or a combination metal and rubber tube, designed to be fitted to a pneumatic tire valve stem, to increase overall length.

PATCH,INNER TUBE REPAIR

An item of natural or synthetic rubber, precut to specific sizes for use in effecting repairs to pneumatic inner tubes. It may be used to repair pneumatic tires and may include a heat unit. For items of rubber impregnated or coated cord fabric, cut to specific size, see PATCH, PNEUMATIC TIRE REPAIR.

PADDING STOCK,TIRE REPAIR

A rubber compound used for filling in and/or building up tread bases. See also TREAD RUBBER.

BALANCING PATCH,TIRE REPAIR

A rubber item used for prebalancing tires prior to retreading.

VALVE STEM WASHER,PNEUMATIC TIRE

A round or bridge type washer used to maintain alignment, and to make an air tight connection of valve stem to the tube.

CEMENT,TIRE LINING AND CURING BAG COATING

A substance compounded of rubber, solvents, and other ingredients. It is used to protect the surface and to prevent sticking of sectional curing bags used in the vulcanizing of pneumatic tires. It is also used as a lining for used tires, penetrating between the cords to give a smooth finish next to the inner tube. Excludes SURFACER, LIQUID.

LUBRICANT,MOLD

A nonspecific compound of wax, organic soap and/or soapstone with a liquid (usually water). It is resistant to high temperatures and used to prevent rubber from adhering to the mold. When of a specific single material, use specific material name. See also LUBRICANT, TIRE AND RIM.

LUBRICANT,TIRE AND RIM

A soap type lubricant designed to reduce friction and prevent cohesion in the mounting or dismounting of pneumatic tires. It may contain additives, such as inhibitors, accelerators, and the like, but is not resistant to high temperature. For those items designed for resistance to high temperature, see LUBRICANT, MOLD.

REPAIR KIT,INNER TUBE

A REPAIR KIT (1) for the repair of an INNER TUBE,PNEUMATIC TIRE, AIRCRAFT or INNER TUBE, PNEUMATIC TIRE,VEHICULAR. For the tire repair, use INC 21370.

HOUSING,VALVE CORE,DUAL SEAL INNER TUBE

A metal or metal and rubber tubular stem designed to inclose a VALVE CORE, PNEUMATIC TIRE and to form a complete valve when inserted into the valve seat of a dual seal inner tube.
